Laurier Archives and Special Collections is pleased to announce the following material is available to researchers in the Julia Hendry Archives Reading Room.
University Film collection
The Wilfrid Laurier University film collection contains sound and video recordings for various Laurier film projects. The collection includes complete historic and promotional films as well as outtakes from the films and working files. These films document the history and development of Wilfrid Laurier University and its predecessor institutions from 1947 to 1999.
Video description
The silent 18 second video from 1971 shows Laurier football players energetically doing agility and conditioning drills outside on a field. Drills include rolling and leaping over each other, quick 90 degree rotations, and high-stepping over tackling bags under the supervision of Coach Tuffy Knight
APT Environment collection
We have recently reprocessed the Assuring Protection for Tomorrow’s Environment (APT Environment) collection. APT Environment is a citizen’s advocacy group concerned with environmental issues in Elmira, Ontario, including the ongoing water crisis. Records include planning documents and reports produced by the chemical companies and provincial and municipal government, Environmental Appeal Board transcripts and decisions, Public Advisory Committee minutes, and scrapbooks of newspaper clippings.
Maureen Forrester fonds
Maureen Forrester (1930-2010) was an internationally acclaimed Canadian opera singer, an advocate for the arts in Canada, and former Chancellor of Wilfrid Laurier University. The Maureen Forrester fonds, which includes notated and signed scores, photographs, and programs, has been reprocessed to make it easier for researchers to identify and access material.
Robert Gibson fonds
Dr. Robert Gibson is a professor in the School of Environment and Resources and Sustainability at the University of Waterloo. Dr. Gibson’s records demonstrate his research and advocacy work on applied sustainability, sustainability assessment and planning, and collaborations with Indigenous communities on mining and resource extraction. The fonds consists of research notes, publications, reports, and presentations which document his research and work interests as a practitioner, advisor, and academic.
