The origin of the GAMEtalk series was the desire to create a broad speaker series that would appeal to a wide audience on the Brantford campus. While the Game Design and Development program does invite speakers to classes, these are specifically for game design students, and not open to other students or the public. Therefore, by partnering with the Game Design and Development program, the GAMEtalk series strives to promote awareness and dialogue on topics such as entrepreneurship, sexism, elitism, game development, cultural appropriation, freelancing, etc. In doing so, the GAMEtalk series serves to elevate the role of the library on the Brantford campus, while also exposing the Game Design and Development program (and its facilities) to students and faculty across all disciplines. The open nature of the series also provides a valuable opportunity to engage the public with the institution through topical discussions and meaningful dialogue.
